Announcing Global Youth Network Day
This is an annual event on the third Saturday of each September. On this day you create your own event wherever you are and gather with other Globalites to stay connected. Activities could be: go out for coffee, watch a movie, re-visit trip photos, volunteer at a food bank together, go camping – you choose! If inspired, part of your gathering can be to give back to Global through raising money: a car wash, donating your weekend's alcohol budget to Global, selling fair trade coffee at a market, hosting a talent show with at-the-door donations, bottle drive, making crafts for teams to sell, etc.
- Who: Global Youth Network alumni
- What: Time spent with fellow Global alumni. You decide how you would like to re-connect on the day!
- Why: To grow community, to show support for Global
- Where: Globalites live all across Canada and around the world. You can choose to re-connect in the city where you went to school, where you're living now, or anywhere! You can meet at a university, in a park, at a coffee shop, movie theatre, community centre, mall, someone's home, church – you decide!
- When: Third Saturday in September each year. 2010: Sat., Sept. 18
- How: Set aside Sat., Sept. 18, 2010 as a day for you to reconnect with the Global community. Get in touch with former or current teammates or other Globalites you know, and figure out a meeting city and activity. To post it on the Global website so others in your area can join you, send it to globalyouthnet@yahoo.ca by September 5. Or join Global's Facebook group and post your event there. Or post on our Global Youth Network Blog by contacting the blog administrator.
