Current Projects

Guatemala

In Guatemala City, our teams visit and work alongside Safe Passage/Camino Seguro, an organization serving the children who live in the Guatemala City dump. Their various projects range from a nutrition program and medical clinic to education and recreation for the children. Our teams also go to Quezaltenango (known by its Native name, Xela, to the locals) to work with Hermandad Educativa , a small grass roots organization doing reforestation and sustainable agriculture projects, as well as educational and cultural projects for local children. Here, teams can participate in Spanish language lessons. This organization has been an inspiration to Global in its objective to assist a community in El Salvador by creating a Spanish language school.

In the geographical centre of Guatemela is the town of Coban, where our teams work with ADEEC (Association for Economic and Cultural Development). Through ADEEC, the team members stay in small remote Kekchi Mayan villages with native families, working alongside them in organic farming, small building projects, planting corn and shovelling compost.
